About Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island lies along the Pacific Coast of British Columbia stretching almost 300 miles in length. The climate is extremely changeable, however Summer temperaturs average 70 -80F (mid 20's C) with frequent sea breezes. In Winter temperatures average 32F (0C).

At the island's southern tip is the city of Victoria, Canada's westernmost city and the capital of British Columbia. It is the commercial hub for Vancouver Island and the political centre for the province. Set amidst spectacular natural beauty Victoria combines the formality of afternoon tea with the exhilaration of ocean what-watching.

North of VIctoria you will find rolling hills scattered with wineries and dairy farms. Along the coast are secluded coves and marinas where you can charter a boat or enjoy a seafood dinner.

Nanaimo is the second largest city on the island and a great base to explore the central island. If you visit in MArch or April you may be lucky enough to see the Great Gray Whale migration where more than 20,000 whales pass close by the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on their journey from Baja Mexico to Alaska.

Campbell River and the northern communities on Vancouver Island are spectacular for outdoor adventure and wildlife viewing. The wealth of natural beauty in this region is phenomenal.
