Slightly quieter and more sedate than its neighbour Huntington Beach, Newport Beach offers soft white sand, pleasant surroundings and facilities plus a pier to stroll along.

Like Huntington Beach you will find surfing here in addition to the usual beach activities.

Try out the iced coffees and mochas sold by the small shops along the front by the pier.

Parking right by the pier and beach is relatively cheap but metered - so you will need a pocketful of quarters for anything more than a short stay.

Don't be tempted to park illegally or skip paying the meters as they are checked regularly both in and out of season!
