The capital of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg rests on the Susquehanna River about 90 miles west of Philadelphia. Visitors come to Harrisburg to learn a little history, but mostly to relax in the beautiful countryside.
The State Capitol building features a 272-foot dome, patterned after that of St. Peter's in Rome. The Capitol sits near a 68-acre downtown park that offers several museums of natural science and history, including the William Penn Memorial Museum.
Nearby Hershey, Pennsylvania is the home of the Hershey chocolate factory and amusement park. Visitors don\rquote t have to love chocolate when they arrive, but chances are they will by the time they leave.
