Notes:
* This tour is suitable for fit and active people who can hike 5-9kms a day over uneven terrain often in high temperatures. We use bush camps with few facilities on several nights.
* Itinerary will change from December to April with the closure of the Gibb River Road & the Bungle Bungles. Attractions will be substituted with others of interest.
* There is a STRICT luggage limit of 15kgs per person on this tour.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Perth to Kalbarri NP

We begin our adventure early, travelling north through the fascinating landscape of the Nambung National Park and checking out the famous Pinnacles before heading to the historic coastal fishing town of Dongara for lunch. We continue onto Kalbarri National Park to explore the spectacular layered sandstone coastal gorges and to witness the pounding Indian Ocean. Overnight camp in Kalbarri. (LD)

 

 

 

Day 2 - Kalbarri NP to Monkey Mia

Up bright and early, we head to picturesque Murchison River Gorge to visit Natures Window, The Loop and stretch our legs with a hike into the beautiful Z Bend Gorge where we may get time for a refreshing swim. After lunch we continue on to the Shark Bay World Heritage area and Monkey Mia for a chance to meet the friendly wild dolphins or relax on the beach and enjoy the sunset. Overnight at Monkey Mia Resort. (BLD)

Day 3 - Monkey Mia to Coral Bay

Wake up to the dolphins and pelicans waiting to be fed at Monkey Mia, with the option of a morning sail on a luxury catamaran. Heading out of Shark Bay we walk down to the unique Shell Beach and then visit the stromatolites - the oldest living organisms in the world! After lunch we head to the ocean playground of Coral Bay via Canarvon. Overnight at Coral Bay. (BLD)

Day 4 - Coral Bay to Exmouth

Spend a relaxing morning snorkelling the famous Ningaloo Reef, accessible from Coral Bay's white sandy beach. Alternatively, you can choose one of the many optional activities including quad biking, snorkelling with manta rays, coral viewing cruises and scuba diving. Mid afternoon we take a short drive to Exmouth, where we say goodbye to passengers finishing their tour or jumping off to spend more time exploring the Ningaloo region and swimming with whalesharks (seasonal). Day 5 - Exmouth to Karijini NP

We welcome any new passengers and head off early towards the remote but spectacular Karijini National Park. After lunch, we call in at the mining town of Tom Price to pick up supplies for our 2 nights camping in Karijini. In the afternoon, we hike into Joffre Falls, an unusually carved wall forming a natural amphitheatre, where we enjoy a cool swim. After the rain, you may be lucky to witness the almost 100-metre waterfall cascading down the rock face. Then we head to camp for a hearty dinner. (BLD)
 

Day 6 - Karijini NP to Miracle Mile

We start the day at Oxer Lookout, checking out Junction Pool where 4 gorges meet. We then take on the challenge of the 'The Miracle Mile'. This adventurous hike includes inching your way over ledges, squeezing through deep chasms eroded billions of years ago, climbing banded iron rock walls and swimming in fresh water rock pools and takes us through Hancock Gorge, Weano Gorge and Junction Pool. In the afternoon we give our legs a well-earned rest and visit the Karijini Cultural Centre, which is full of local and aboriginal information. Overnight Karijini (BLD)

Day 7 - Karijini NP

An early start for our final hike along the top of Dales Gorge, down to Circular Pool, on to Fortesque Falls and finishing with a refreshing swim at picturesque Fern Pool. Leaving Karijini behind, we head north through Port Hedland, checking out the enormous piles of iron ore and salt. We set up our bush camp amongst the white gum trees on the De Grey River. (BLD)

Day 8 - Eighty Mile Beach to Broome

Today we cross the Great Sandy Desert, calling in at the coastal oasis of Eighty Mile Beach where we may have time for a quick swim in the turquoise water and a chance to collect some unique seashells. We arrive into the historical pearling town of Broome in the afternoon with time to visit magnificent Cable Beach and watch the sunset. (BL)

Days 9,10 & 11 - Broome

Three days at your leisure to relax and explore Broome and prepare for our next eight days of adventure! (No meals)

Day 12 - Broome to Windjana Gorge

We begin our adventure travelling from Broome to Derby to visit the famous Boab Prison Tree. Then we tackle the punishing Gibb River Road on our way to Tunnel Creek to wade through the icy underground stream & explore ancient limestone caves. We view the abundant wildlife of Windjana Gorge, including freshwater crocodiles & explore the 350 million year old fossilised reef wall rising 90 metres above the riverbed before settling into our overnight campsite. Day 13 - Gibb River Road and Gorges

We drive through the King Leopold Range to Bell Creek Gorge for an afternoon of hiking and swimming. Overnight bush camp. (BLD)
 

Day 14 - Gibb River Road and Gorges

Time for swimming and walking as we explore some of the striking gorges - maybe Barnett, Manning, Adcock or Galvins depending on the time of year. Overnight bush camp. (BLD)

Day 15 - Rush Creek to Diggers Rest

We call in for a swim at Jack's waterhole before crossing the Pentecost River and travelling through the ancient and spectacular ranges. We take a walk in to the beautiful Cockburn Ranges for a swim under the waterfall at Emma Gorge before visiting the famous El Questro Station. Overnight at Diggers Rest Cattle Station or the bird watchers paradise of Parry Farm. (BLD)

Day 16 - Wyndham to Bungle Bungles

We continue on to Wyndham and the Five Rivers Lookout. Next it's time to buckle up and hold on for the challenging 4WD trip into the Bungle Bungle (Purnululu) National Park for sunset over the Osmond Ranges and our camp for 2 nights. (BLD)

Day 17 - Bungle Bungles

We spend a full day exploring the unusual rock formations of the Bungle Bungles Ranges. We visit the unique Frog Hole, the breathtaking Echidna Chasm and the magnificent Cathedral Gorge, with an optional scenic helicopter flight (at own expense) over the Bungles. We return to our campsite for another amazing sunset. (BLD)

Day 18 - Bungle Bungles to Lake Argyle

We leave the Bungle Bungles & after a short stop at Turkey Creek, head onto Kununurra visiting the Ord River Scheme and the scenic Hidden Valley National Park before heading up to Lake Argyle for sunset. Overnight camp at Lake Argyle or Big Horse Creek. (BLD)

Day 19 - Lake Argyle to Darwin

We head out of Western Australia following the Victoria River escarpment then through the picturesque Gregory National Park. After travelling through the small town of Timber Creek, we enjoy a swim at Edith Falls before heading into Darwin late afternoon. (BL)
