4 Day Melbourne to Sydney

Day 1 - Melbourne to Wilsons Promontory

We begin our adventure early, travelling southeast through the Dandenong Ranges and pastoral landscape of Victoria to Wilsons Promontory National Park. We spend the entire afternoon in the National Park, exploring the spectacular granite rock formations, coastal flora and native wildlife (including emus and wombats), golden beaches and watching the ocean of Bass Strait pound on to the Australian mainland's most southerly point. Overnight at Foster, a small, but pretty town known for its dairy farming. (D)

Day 2 - Wilsons Promontory to Snowy River Country

After breakfast we travel through the farming land of the East Gippsland to Ninety Mile Beach and Buchan, where huge limestone caves lie beneath the woodlands. Arriving in the Snowy River High Country, we stretch our legs on a guided 2-3 hour sunset hike. Enjoy a hearty dinner and in the evening, search for 'Aussie' wildlife on an interpretive nocturnal walk. Overnight in picturesque 'Highland Country' (BD)

Day 3 - Snowy River Country to Jindabyne

Wake up bright and early for the spectacular scenic drive through Snowy River NP, crossing the border of New South Wales, the mighty Snowy River and into Kosciuszko NP. We arrive in Jindabyne in time for an early lunch, and then visit the Jindabyne Cultural Centre. In the afternoon, we travel to Charlotte Pass (seasonal) to view the peak of Mt Kosciuszko (the highest point in Australia) and also hike along an alpine track to the glacial blue lake. During winter we will 'snow hike' or ski (at own expense - weather permitting). Dinner and overnight accommodation is included at the Lake Jindabyne Hotel, where you'll get to enjoy the mountain life; perhaps a sauna, swim or drink at the bar while taking in the magnificent view of the lake. (BD)

Day 4 - Jindabyne to Sydney via Canberra

Spend the morning relaxing or try one of the following optional activities: canoeing, water skiing (seasonal), horse riding (a must, through this beautiful Snowy River country) or mountain bike riding (all at own expense). We travel on to Cooma and Australia's capital, Canberra to check out Parliament House, Lake Burley Griffin and stunning views from Mt Ainsley, before continuing on to Sydney arriving late afternoon.
