ITINERARY

Day 1 - Darwin to Mary River

See the falls of Litchfield National Park before arriving at the Mary River Wetlands. This afternoon look for ’crocs’ and other wildlife on our private river cruise.  Arrive at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge for dinner and overnight camp.  (LD)

Day 2 - Mary River to Kakadu

We call in at Mamukala Wetlands then head to the awesome Jim Jim Falls to take a walk to the base of the falls before continuing on to Twin Falls.  Here we join a National Park operated boat and boardwalk experience up the stunning gorge to the waterfall where you can relax on the sandy bank.  We drive on to Kakadu for dinner and our overnight camp. Day 3 - Kakadu to Darwin

Our first stop is Ubirr where we discover ancient Aboriginal rock art.  We continue our journey to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where we do some hiking and enjoy a refreshing dip in the plunge pools.  We then return to Darwin, enjoying the impressive scenery along the way. (BL)

Day 4 - Darwin City

A day free to relax and enjoy the tropical city of Darwin.  Take a look at the Museum, try fish feeding at Doctors Gully or visit the Indo-Pacific Marine (day at own expense). Overnight in Motel. (No meals)

Day 5 - Darwin to Katherine Gorge

After departing Darwin, we take a look at the Adelaide River WWII War Cemetery before spending the afternoon either canoeing or cruising (at own expense) the striking Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge.  We stay overnight in our permanent campsite. (LD)

Day 6 - Mataranka to Tennant Creek

Relax in Mataranka’s crystal clear thermal pools then experience the famous Outback Aussie pub at Daly Waters. After lunch, travel south to Tennant Creek for our overnight camp at Juno Horse Farm. (BLD)

Day 7 - Devils Marbles to Alice Springs

We tour the Battery Stamp Gold Mine at Tennant Creek then explore the mysterious formations of the Devils Marbles before leaving for Alice Springs, where we stay overnight at Melanka Lodge Motel. (BL)

Day 8 - Alice Spring - Kata Tjuta -Uluru

We travel to the Outback Camel Farm for an optional camel ride (at own expense).  Then we enjoy the sights of the ancient Hugh and Finke River systems, Mt Connor and the unique scenery on our journey on to Uluru (Ayers Rock). After lunch at Yulara, we explore the Valley of the Winds in the majestic Kata Tjuta (Olgas) then return to enjoy champagne with the sun setting over Uluru. Camp at our permanent campsite in tents or view the brilliance of the outback night sky while sleeping in an authentic Aussie bedroll (swag). (LD)

Day 9 - Uluru to Kings Canyon

Up before sunrise for a base walk at Uluru to explore the mysterious rock formations and Aboriginal art sites or choose to climb. Visit the Cultural Centre for a greater insight into Aboriginal art and beliefs. After lunch we head to Kings Canyon for our overnight camp. (BLD)

Day 10 - Kings Canyon to Alice Springs

Climb and explore spectacular Kings Canyon, view the ’Amphitheatre’, ’The Lost City’, the picturesque ’Garden of Eden’ and the breathtaking North and South Walls, then enjoy a refreshing dip in the waterhole (summer only). After lunch, we return to Alice Springs viewing the rugged desert scenery along the way.  (BL)
