ITINERARY

Day 1 - Darwin to Mary River


See the falls of Litchfield National Park before arriving at the Mary River Wetlands. This afternoon look for ‘crocs’ and other wildlife on our private river cruise. Arrive at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge to experience an Aboriginal Corroborree, dinner and overnight camp. (LD)

Day 2 - Mary River to Kakadu


We call in at Mamukala Wetlands then head to the awesome Jim Jim Falls to take a walk to the base of the falls before continuing on to Twin Falls. Here we join a National Park operated boat and boardwalk experience up the stunning gorge to the waterfall where you can relax on the sandy bank. We drive on to Kakadu for dinner and our overnight camp. (BLD)

Day 3 - Kakadu to Darwin


Our first stop is Ubirr where we discover ancient Aboriginal rock art. We continue our journey to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where we do some hiking and enjoy a refreshing dip in the plunge pools. We then return to Darwin, enjoying the impressive scenery along the way. (BL) Overnight dorm accommodation included.

Day 4 - Darwin to Katherine Gorge


After departing Darwin, we take a look at the Adelaide River WWII War Cemetery before spending the afternoon either canoeing or cruising (at own expense) the striking Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge. We stay overnight in our permanent campsite. (LD)

Day 5 - Katherine Gorge to Tennant Creek


Relax in Mataranka's crystal clear thermal pools then experience the famous Outback pub at Daly Waters,the oldest in the Northern Territory. After lunch, we travel south to Tennant Creek for our overnight camp at Juno Horse Farm. (BLD)

Day 6 - Tennant Creek to Alice Springs


This morning we visit th epicturesque Mary Ann Dam in the Honeymoon Ranges before exploring the mysterious foundations of the Devils Marbles. We continue on to Alice Springs for our overnight dorm accommodation (upgrade to motel accommodation is available at own expense). (BL)

Day 7 - Alice Springs to Kata Tjuta & Uluru


Ride a camel this morning at the Outback Camel Farm (own expense) and then continue on through the remote outback of the Red Centre to Uluru (Ayers Rock). Visit the Cultural Centre for a greater insight into Aboriginal beliefs with the opportunity to purchase art & crafts, before setting out on a guided 9.4km Uluru base walk, exploring the mysterious formations and Aboriginal art sites. We finish in time to watch the desert sun set over this awesome monolith. After dinner, curl up under the outback stars at our permanent campsite. (LD)

Day 8 - Uluru to Kings Canyon


It's an early start for one of the highlights of the tour - the Uluru sunrise. Relax in the pre-dawn stillness and watch the changing light on the desert or you can choose to climb the Rock. We hike the spectacular Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta (Olgas) before continuing on to Kings Canyon for our overnight camp and a great camp oven dinner. (BLD)

Day 9 - Kings Canyon to Palm Valley


Climb and explore Kings Canyon checking out the impressive formations of the 'Amphitheatre', 'Lost City', picturesque 'Garden of Eden' and the breathtaking North and South Walls. After lunch, we view the spectacular scenery along the Mereenie Loop Track, call in at Hermannsburg Aboriginal Community and 4WD along the track of the ancient Finke River. We pass the home of the renowned Aboriginal painter, Albert Namitjira before arriving at Palm Valley at our overnight semi-permanent camp. (BLD)

Day 10 - Palm Valley to Glen Helen Gorge


We explore Palm Valley and Cycad Gorge, site of an in-land sea in prehistoric times and home to one of the rarest trees in the world, the tropical palm Livistonia Mariae. Then we head off down the Track viewing Gosse Bluff, a meteorite crater some believe is over 130 million year old before continuing on to beautiful Glen Helen Gorge where we spend the night in our semi-permanent camp. Day 11 - Western MacDonnell Ranges to Alice Springs


Explore Glen Helen Gorge, enjoy a hike around spectacular Ormiston Gorge then relax with a swim at Ellery Creek Big Hole (time permitting). Savour the rugged scenery of the Western MacDonnell Ranges on our journey back to Alice Springs. (BL)
