Day Two
Fort Robinson is located on Highway 20 just west of Crawford, Nebraska. This is where Crazy Horse was jailed.
The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota is just over one hour's drive north of Fort Robinson. This is home to several thousand Lakota tribal members, a few who are part of the Crazy Horse extended family or tiyospaye. Special places on the reservation are the tragic Wounded Knee mass burial site and the Stockade in the Badlands, location of the legendary Ghost Dance.
Day Two ends at a Bed and Breakfast (Upo's) on Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota
Day Three
A visit to Wounded Knee, will leave the visitor in awe of the tragic power of the place. People travel to Wounded Knee from afar to pray, make offerings and to ponder the inhumanity of human conduct through the ages.
White River Badlands Visitor Center is operated by the National Park Service. There one can find Badlands maps and information about the plants and wildlife of the region. They also present information about the Lakota people along with some photography and artifacts.
Richard will show a intimate side of the Badlands. What some people consider a stark moonscape is actually home to an abundance of plants, animals and other creatures.
Day Three ends back at Rapid City, South Dakota. Lodging for this night is included
Three daily meals are provided as well as lodging and transportation during the tour. If special diets are required, it is the responsibility of the quest to bring their own necessary food items.
