California's Central Valley
California's agricultural bounty flows from the Central Valley ,one of the most productive farming areas in the world. This thriving region includes a wealth of culturally diverse communities, historic sites, exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities and plentiful wildlife.
The 400-mile long valley stretches from Redding in the north to Bakersfield in the south and would take about 8 hours to drive. It supplies as much as one quarter of America's food thanks to very fertile soil protected between the Coastal Mountains to the west and the Sierra Nevada moutains to the east.
