Canadian Rockies Highlights

This is our most popular Canadian rail package featuring the Rocky Mountaineer daylight train service between the Pacific Coast and Canadian Rockies. Included is a night in Lake Louise and a tour of Yoho National Park, both of which are spectacular. Aboard the train, settle back and be rewarded with great scenery and hospitality.

Typical Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Vancouver and explore on your own. Truly the best of both worlds, you can enjoy an endless choice of outdoor activities or experience the lively city scene. Admission to The Lookout with spectacular views of the city, mountains and ocean is included. Overnight in Vancouver.
Day 2 Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops in BC's interior. Settle back in your reclining seat and enjoy the excellent service on your train. En route you will pass through the fertile Fraser Valley. Today's highlight is Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon, where you will watch water torrent past the canyon's walls. Overnight in Kamloops - Optional Two River Junction Dinner & Musical .
Day 3 Continue your rail journey to the Canadian Rockies. Pass by Shuswap Lake, Craigellachie, where the 'last spike' was driven to complete the Canadian Pacific Railway, the glaciers at Rogers Pass, and the Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park. Upon arrival in Banff, transfer by coach to the breathtaking waters of Lake Louise. Overnight in Lake Louise.
Day 4 Soak up the beauty of the Rockies and Lake Louise. Before your transfer to Banff, enjoy a tour of Yoho National Park. Among its wonders is a natural rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. Overnight in Banff.
Day 5 Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Banff with visits to Bow Falls, Cave and Basin Centre, Banff Gondola, Surprise Corner, and the Hoodoos. This afternoon transfer to Calgary. Put on your cowboy boots and kick up some fun in this mountain playground. A visit to the Calgary Tower with views of the city and mountains is included. Overnight in Calgary.
Day 6 Today your Canadian Rockies vacation comes to an end with check out from your hotel.

About RedLeaf and GoldLeaf Service on the Rocky Mountaineer

There are two primary differences between RedLeaf and GoldLeaf services on the Rocky Mountaineer. RedLeaf is a roomy single-level carriage with large picture windows and comfortable seats where your meals are served chilled. GoldLeaf is the famous two-level dome car. The lower level is a dining car with large windows where your meals served hot and the upper level has a dome to view the scenery. Also there is an outside platform where GoldLeaf passengers can enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Weather
The summer weather in British Columbia's interior is very pleasant. Because of the relatively high altitudes, however, be prepared for cool evening temperatures and the possibility of rain.

Daytime temperatures in July and August often reach 25°C, with average summer temperatures in the 9-10°C range. The effects of winter are normally evident through April, even early May.
