Typical Itinerary
Day 1 - Vancouver Arrival
Arrive in Vancouver and explore on your own. Truly the best of both worlds, you can enjoy an endless choice of outdoor activities or experience the lively city scene. Admission to The Lookout with spectacular views of the city, mountains and ocean is included. Overnight in Vancouver.
Day 2 - Rocky Mountaineer - Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops in BC's interior. Settle back in your reclining seat and enjoy the excellent service on your train. En route you will pass through the fertile Fraser Valley. Today's highlight is Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon, where you will watch water torrent past the canyon's walls. Day 3 - Rocky Mountaineer - Kamloops to Banff
Continue your rail journey to the Canadian Rockies. Pass by Shuswap Lake, Craigellachie, where the 'last spike' was driven to complete the Canadian Pacific Railway, the glaciers at Rogers Pass, and the Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park. Overnight in Banff.
Day 4 - Banff
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Banff with visits to Bow Falls, Cave and Basin Centre, Banff Gondola, Surprise Corner, and the Hoodoos. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore Banff's pristine wilderness and rich cultural history. Overnight in Banff.
Day 5 - Banff to Lake Louise
Soak up the beauty of the Rockies and Banff. Enjoy a tour of Yoho National Park, including a visit to a natural rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. The end of the tour brings you to the breathtaking emerald waters of Lake Louise. Overnight in Lake Louise.
Day 6 - Lake Louise
Enjoy a free day at Lake Louise. Be surrounded by nature's peaceful tranquility with the turquoise lake right before your eyes and Victoria Glacier far in the distance. Perhaps take a stroll along the promenade of the lake or an afternoon paddle by canoe. Overnight in Lake Louise.
Day 7 - Lake Louise to Jasper
Travel to Jasper via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. At the Columbia Icefield you will have the opportunity to ride on a Snocoach to the middle of Athabasca Glacier and step out onto the ice formed hundreds of years ago. After arriving in Jasper, you are free to indulge in its scenic splendour. Overnight in Jasper.
Day 8 - VIA Rail - Jasper to Toronto
Begin your 3-day VIA Rail journey onboard The Canadian train. Settle back on your seat and enjoy a dramatic change in scenery as you travel from the Rockies' snow-capped peaks to the undulating plain of Canada's prairie provinces. Overnight on VIA Rail.
Day 9 - VIA Rail
Continue your rail journey across Canada to Toronto. Enter a world of picturesque lakelands, lush forests and granite cliffs as you travel across Northern Ontario. Overnight on VIA Rail.
Day 10 - Toronto Arrival
Arrive in Toronto this evening and explore Canada's largest city. Known as 'The 'World Within a City', do not miss out on the colourful city landscape. Toronto bustles with great nightlife, dining and shopping opportunities. Overnight in Toronto.
Day 11 - Niagara Falls Daytrip
Enjoy a full-day motorcoach tour to spectacular Niagara Falls, one of the great natural wonders of the world. Included is a cruise on the Maid of the Mist to the base of Horseshoe Falls (Imax Theatre or Journey Behind the Falls is substituted during the off season). Return to Toronto early this evening. Day 12 - VIA Rail - Toronto to Montreal
Travel by VIA Rail in VIA-1 class to Montreal, the world's second largest French-speaking city, after Paris. Overnight in Montreal.
Day 13 - Montreal
Enjoy a half-day guided tram tour of Montreal and experience its unique combination of old world charm, French joie de vivre and modern style. During the tram tour, you will visit Old Montreal, Notre-Dame Basilica, Olympic Park, Mount Royal, and McGill University. Day 14 - VIA Rail - Montreal to Halifax
Enjoy a full-day of independent sightseeing in Montreal. This evening you will leave the French Canadian cultural experience behind and continue your rail journey to Atlantic Canada. Board an overnight VIA train to Halifax this evening.
Day 15 - Halifax Arrival
This morning awake to the magnificent coastal landscape of the Maritime provinces. Arrive in Halifax, the elegant and lively capital of Nova Scotia. This afternoon, explore this harbour city on your own and discover its traditional heritage. Overnight in Halifax.
Day 16 - Peggy's Cove Daytrip
Today you will enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour to the picture-postcard village of Peggy's Cove and the most photographed lighthouse in the world. Listen to the waves crashing on the granite cliffs, and look into the horizon and see the ocean touch the sky. Overnight in Halifax.
Day 17 - Halifax Departure
