From Seward, on Kenai Peninsula, Alaska Railroad takes you along spectacular plummeting gorges, jagged peaks and walls of ice. North of Anchorage, you will stop at Talkeetna and Denali to view North America’s tallest mountain, Mount McKinley. Be prepared for outstanding service and friendly tour guides onboard the Alaska Railroad. Next you will travel aboard a glacier cruise through breathtaking Prince William Sound before your vacation comes to an end.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrive in Anchorage & Travel to Seward
Begin with your independent arrival in Anchorage the night before as you will be catching the train from Anchorage to Seward at 6:45am sharp today to begin your Alaska train vacation (this pre-departure night is not included in the rates below). Then enjoy a cruise to spectacular Kenai Fjords National Park from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. Overnight in Seward.

Day 2 - Seward to Girdwood / Alyeska
Start the day learning about Alaska's marine wildlife at the Alaska SeaLife Center. Then spend the afternoon on the Real Alaska Tour, which includes a dog sled ride, lunch at an Alaskan roadhouse, and the Exit Glacier Tour. This evening travel aboard Alaska Railroads’ Coastal Classic Train from Seward to Girdwood. Overnight in Girdwood / Alyeska.

Day 3 - Glacier Discovery Train - Girdwood to Spencer
Float among the icebergs at Spencer Glacier and down the Placer River. Short train
ride to Portage follows float tour. Motorcoach transfer from Portage to Anchorage, 5:20 pm – 6:45 pm. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 4 - Denali Star Train - Anchorage to Denali
Today travel by train onboard the Denali Star from Anchorage to Denali. Upon arrival in Denali, enjoy the Alaska Cabin Nite dinner show, which is a family-style, all-you-can-eat dinner of fresh Alaska salmon, barbecued ribs, salad, and dessert. The dinner theatre highlights Kantishna history. Overnight in Denali.

Day 5 - Denali - Tundra Wilderness Tour
Your Alaska train vacation gives you the option to enjoy either a morning or afternoon Tundra Wilderness Tour. This is an excellent way to spot the wildlife for which Alaska is so famous: moose, bear, wolves, caribou, Dall sheep, along with Denali's unique sub-arctic desert terrain. Overnight in Denali.

Day 6 - Denali to Anchorage
Take the wheel of a 4WD Jeep Wrangler and follow your guide on a spectacular off-road journey into Denali's backcountry. This 3.5-hour tour includes a hearty Alaskan snack, fabulous scenery, and lots of stories to take home. This afternoon your Alaska train travel takes you onboard the Denali Star Train from Denali to Anchorage. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 7 - End of Tour
Today your Alaska train travel holiday comes to an end upon check-out of your hotel.

Guests may choose to upgrade to Alaska Railroad's new GoldStar Service. The service is being introduced in two new double-deck railcars. These lavishly appointed cars feature custom-designed interiors highlighted with original Alaska art. The cars will enhance the Denali Star Train that operates daily mid-May through mid-September between Anchorage and Fairbanks with stops in Wasilla, Talkeetna, and Denali National Park. The GoldStar Service includes a confirmed seat in the new luxury cars, a commemorative and edible GoldStar gift, a complimentary non-alcoholic beverages during your journey and access to a private outdoor viewing platform reserved exclusively for GoldStar guests. Each GoldStar guest will receive a commemorative GoldStar pin at check-in.
